Fused Silica is a non-crystalline (glass) form of silicon dioxide (quartz, sand) which lacks long range order in its atomic structure.
Fused silica has a high use temperature and a thermal expansion coefficient of nearly zero, both of which are a result of the highly cross-linked three-dimensional structure. The low thermal expansion leads to exceptionally good thermal shock resistance. Fused silica also has low dielectric loss and good UV transparency.
Fused Silica has many uses. These uses include high temperature lamp envelopes, temperature insensitive optical component supports, lenses and mirrors in highly variable temperature regimes, microwave and millimeter wave components and aeronautical radar windows.
Fused Silica standard sizes available:
3.00" x 3.00" square to 1.00" x 1.00" square in thickness from .005" thru .080"
Custom sizes are available upon request. Centerline provides diameters and other configuration per your specifications. For more information please fill out our Request a Quote form.
